Can lighting damage my solar system?
Anything is possible with lighting since it is unpredictable. Our systems are grounded, and comply with NEC requirements. We also install surge arrestors to help in the unlikely event of a lighting strike.

Please contact your tax advisor. In most cases the tax credits can be carried over to the adjacent year. The NYS tax credit is a IT-255 form.

Should I get my old electric service changed before I install a solar PV system?
Yes, since this is large investment and we use all NEC compliance and codes. However, there is no sense putting in a nice solar PV system to an old electric service with fuses or old breakers. There are also some electric panels and services that will not pass inspection unless they are upgraded first. This is to ensure the electric service can carry the amperage that a solar generating system can produce.

Will my solar panels produce electric power with snow on the panels?
With a dusting yes, with 6-10" no. Can you brush them off? I wouldn't and you shouldn't, but I have many people who do and they are careful not to break the panels!

Can I install a system that the utility pays me lots of money back?
Yes, however you will not ba able to take advantage of NYSERDA benefits because they will only allow incentives to those systems that are designed to be less then 110% of the clients total yearly Kwh usage.

How much electric will a solar system produce and how much will it lower my electric bill?
This is dependent on the size of the solar electric system to determine how much power and Kwh's it will produce yearly. A typical 2Kw or 2000 watt system which consists of 12 solar modules will typically generate 2000Kwh's of electric per year with some variables. Yes these figures are for New York State!
